The ICTS Social Science: Sociology and Anthropology Test

The Illinois State Board of Education certifies social science teachers who specialize in sociology and anthropology after they pass the ICTS Social Science: Sociology and Anthropology Test. This test combines general social science information with detailed information on sociology and anthropology. It is a criterion-referenced, objective-based test with 125 multiple-choice questions. There are four key subareas within the ICTS Social Science: Sociology and Anthropology Test: Social Science Foundations; History Common Core; Sociology; and Anthropology.

The subareas of the ICTS Social Science: Sociology and Anthropology Test are divided into 18 objective statements. The objective statements are broad terms, which are accompanied by detailed descriptive statements that test the capacity to recognize and analyze the content. Each person who passes the ICTS Social Science: Sociology and Anthropology Test must post a total score of 240 or above. The total score and scores for each subarea are reported four weeks after the examination.
