The ICTS Social Science: Economics Test includes both general information on social science and specialized information about economics. It is the tool used by the Illinois State Board of Education to certify teachers. The ICTS Social Science: Economics Test is a criterion-referenced, objective-based test with 125 multiple-choice questions. The exam covers four subareas: Social Science Foundations; History Common Core; Economic Concepts, Types of Economic Systems, and International Economics; and the United States Economic System.
The four subareas are divided into 17 broad objectives, and each objective statement includes in-depth descriptive statements designed to demonstrate an understanding of the material. The scores are sent to the test takers four weeks after the exam date. To pass the ICTS Social Science: Economics Test requires a total score of 240 or above. The score report shows the total score as well as scores for each subarea so that test takers can understand their strengths and weaknesses.
