The ICTS Physical Education Test is a content-area exam used to certify music teachers in the state of Illinois. It consists of 125 multiple-choice questions and is a criterion-referenced, objective-based exam that is broken down into four main subareas or topics: Health-Related Physical Fitness; Movement and Skill Acquisition; the Role of Physical Education in Promoting Development; and the Physical Education Program.
There are 17 unique objectives within the four subareas. Each basic objective statement is further divided into specific descriptive statements that gauge one's ability to demonstrate and apply knowledge of the ICTS Physical Education Test. A passing test is a total score of 240 or higher. Scores for each subarea as well as the total score are reported four weeks after the test is administered. This allows test takers to focus on areas that need improvement as well as areas of strength.
